This project was an addition to the College of Engineering Building of approximately 100,000 square feet and the remodeling of approximately 85,000 square feet of the existing building.  The goals of this project were to dramatically improve the learning environment for students, relieve overcrowding, and improve and modernize outdated facilities.  Provisions were also made for increased access to modern electronic learning facilities and the ICN fiber optic network that will enable closer linkages between programs in the College of Engineering and those in the College of Medicine, Liberal Arts and other universities including Iowa State University.

Renovation work includes:  Provision of a new student Learning Center, improvements in teaching, research and office space, improvements to building access and circulation, and upgrade of the building utility systems.

Addition provides:  State-of-the-art classrooms, new instructional laboratories, some increase in “generic” modern research laboratories, greatly improved circulation with the expanded complex, and new student study areas and community space.
